Teach Of Christ

It came to pass that
Alma began to teach concerning
the resurrection of the dead,
and the redemption of the people,
which was to be brought to pass
through the power, and sufferings,
and death of Christ,
and his resurrection
and ascension into heaven.

Only In And Through Christ

And now, ought ye not to tremble
and repent of your sins, and remember that
only in and through Christ ye can be saved?

Therefore, teach them that
redemption cometh through Christ the Lord.

Death Is Swallowed Up In Christ

If Christ had not come into the world,
there could have been no redemption.

And if Christ had not risen from the dead,
or have broken the bands of death
that the grave should have no victory,
and that death should have no sting,
there could have been no resurrection.

But there is a resurrection,
therefore the grave hath no victory,
and the sting of death is swallowed up in Christ.

He is the light and the life of the world;
yea, a light that is endless,
that can never be darkened;
yea, and also a life which is endless,
that there can be no more death.

Christ Has Broken The Bands Of Death

Were it not for the redemption
which he hath made for his people,
which was prepared
from the foundation of the world,
I say unto you, were it not for this,
all mankind must have perished.

But behold,
the bands of death shall be broken,
and the Son reigneth,
and hath power over the dead;
therefore, he bringeth to pass
the resurrection of the dead.

And there cometh a resurrection,
even a first resurrection;
yea, even a resurrection of those that
have been, and who are, and who shall be,
even until the resurrection of Christ—
for so shall he be called.

They are raised to dwell with God
who has redeemed them;
thus they have eternal life through Christ,
who has broken the bands of death.

Jesus Christ: Our Savior & Redeemer

Ye should understand that
God himself shall come
down among the children of men,
and shall redeem his people.

And because he dwelleth in flesh
he shall be called the Son of God,
and having subjected the flesh
to the will of the Father,
being the Father and the Son—
The Father, because he was
conceived by the power of God;
and the Son, because of the flesh;
thus becoming the Father and Son—
And they are one God,
yea, the very Eternal Father
of heaven and of earth.

And thus the flesh
becoming subject to the Spirit,
or the Son to the Father,
being one God, suffereth temptation,
and yieldeth not to the temptation,
but suffereth himself to be mocked,
and scourged, and cast out,
and disowned by his people.

And after all this,
after working many mighty miracles
among the children of men,
he shall be led, yea, even as Isaiah said,
as a sheep before the shearer is dumb,
so he opened not his mouth.

Yea, even so he shall be led, crucified, and slain,
the flesh becoming subject even unto death,
the will of the Son being swallowed up
in the will of the Father.

And thus God breaketh the bands of death,
having gained the victory over death;
giving the Son power to make
intercession for the children of men—

Having ascended into heaven,
having the bowels of mercy;
being filled with compassion
towards the children of men;
standing betwixt them and justice;
having broken the bands of death,
taken upon himself their iniquity
and their transgressions,
having redeemed them,
and satisfied the demands of justice.

And now I say unto you,
who shall declare his generation?

Behold, I say unto you, that when
his soul has been made an offering for sin
he shall see his seed.

And now what say ye?

And who shall be his seed?

Behold I say unto you, that
whosoever has heard the words of the prophets,
yea, all the holy prophets who have prophesied
concerning the coming of the Lord—
I say unto you, that all those who have
hearkened unto their words, and believed
that the Lord would redeem his people,
and have looked forward to that day
for a remission of their sins,
I say unto you, that these are his seed,
or they are the heirs of the kingdom of God.

For these are they whose sins he has borne;
these are they for whom he has died,
to redeem them from their transgressions.

And now, are they not his seed?

The Prophets Testify Of Christ

Behold, did not Moses prophesy unto them
concerning the coming of the Messiah,
and that God should redeem his people?

Yea, and even all the prophets who have
prophesied ever since the world began—
have they not spoken more or less
concerning these things?

Have they not said that God himself should
come down among the children of men,
and take upon him the form of man,
and go forth in mighty power
upon the face of the earth?

Yea, and have they not said also that
he should bring to pass the resurrection of the dead,
and that he, himself, should be oppressed and afflicted?

True To Our Savior

A prophet of the Lord have they slain;
yea, a chosen man of God, who told them
of their wickedness and abominations, and
prophesied of many things which are to come,
yea, even the coming of Christ.

And because he said unto them that
Christ was the God, the Father of all things, and
said that he should take upon him the image of man,
and it should be the image after which
man was created in the beginning; or in other words,
he said that man was created after the image of God,
and that God should come down
among the children of men,
and take upon him flesh and blood,
and go forth upon the face of the earth—
And now, because he said this,
they did put him to death.

Taking The Name Of Christ

There was not one soul,
but who had entered into the covenant
and had taken upon them
the name of Christ.

Salvation Is In Jesus Christ

I would that ye should be steadfast and immovable,
always abounding in good works,
that Christ, the Lord God Omnipotent, may seal you his,
that you may be brought to heaven,
that ye may have everlasting salvation and eternal life,
through the wisdom, and power, and justice, and mercy
of him who created all things, in heaven and in earth,
who is God above all.

Born Again Through Jesus Christ

Because of the covenant which ye have made
ye shall be called the children of Christ,
his sons, and his daughters; for behold,
this day he hath spiritually begotten you;
for ye say that your hearts are changed
through faith on his name;
therefore, ye are born of him
and have become his sons and his daughters.

And under this head ye are made free, and
there is no other head whereby ye can be made free.

There is no other name given whereby salvation cometh;
therefore, I would that
ye should take upon you the name of Christ,
all you that have entered into the covenant with God
that ye should be obedient unto the end of your lives.

And it shall come to pass that whosoever doeth this
shall be found at the right hand of God,
for he shall know the name by which he is called;
for he shall be called by the name of Christ.

And now it shall come to pass, that
whosoever shall not take upon him the name of Christ
must be called by some other name;
therefore, he findeth himself on the left hand of God.

Exceeding Faith In Jesus Christ

He cast his eyes round about on the multitude,
and behold they had fallen to the earth,
for the fear of the Lord had come upon them.

And they all cried aloud with one voice,
saying: O have mercy, and
apply the atoning blood of Christ
that we may receive forgiveness of our sins,
and our hearts may be purified;
for we believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God,
who created heaven and earth, and all things;
who shall come down among the children of men.

And it came to pass that
after they had spoken these words
the Spirit of the Lord came upon them,
and they were filled with joy,
having received a remission of their sins,
and having peace of conscience,
because of the exceeding faith
which they had in Jesus Christ.

The Knowledge Of Our Savior

And moreover, I say unto you,
that the time shall come when
the knowledge of a Savior
shall spread throughout
every nation, kindred, tongue, and people.

Through The Atonement Of Christ

And moreover, I say unto you, that
there shall be no other name given
nor any other way nor means
whereby salvation can come
unto the children of men,
only in and through the name of Christ,
the Lord Omnipotent.

For the natural man is an enemy to God,
and has been from the fall of Adam,
and will be, forever and ever,
unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit,
and putteth off the natural man
and becometh a saint
through the atonement of Christ the Lord,
and becometh as a child, submissive, meek,
humble, patient, full of love,
willing to submit to all things
which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him,
even as a child doth submit to his father.

Children In Christ

Even if it were possible
that little children could sin
they could not be saved;
but I say unto you they are blessed;
for behold, as in Adam,
or by nature, they fall,
even so the blood of Christ
atoneth for their sins.

For behold he judgeth,
and his judgment is just;
and the infant perisheth not
that dieth in his infancy;
but men drink damnation to their own souls
except they humble themselves
and become as little children,
and believe that salvation
was, and is, and is to come,
in and through the atoning blood
of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent.

Salvation Is In Jesus Christ

Salvation cometh to none
except it be through repentance
and faith on the Lord Jesus Christ.

And the Lord God hath
sent his holy prophets
among all the children of men,
to declare these things to
every kindred, nation, and tongue,
that thereby whosoever
should believe that Christ should come,
the same might receive
remission of their sins,
and rejoice with exceedingly great joy.

He Is Jesus Christ, The Son Of God

Awake, and hear the words which I shall tell thee;
for behold, I am come to declare unto you
the glad tidings of great joy.

For the Lord hath sent me to declare unto thee
that thou mayest rejoice; and that
thou mayest declare unto thy people,
that they may also be filled with joy.

For behold, the time cometh, and is not far distant,
that with power, the Lord Omnipotent who reigneth,
who was, and is from all eternity to all eternity,
shall come down from heaven among the children of men,
and shall dwell in a tabernacle of clay,
and shall go forth amongst men, working mighty miracles,
such as healing the sick, raising the dead,
causing the lame to walk, the blind to receive their sight,
and the deaf to hear, and curing all manner of diseases.

And he shall cast out devils, or the evil spirits
which dwell in the hearts of the children of men.

And lo, he shall suffer temptations,
and pain of body, hunger, thirst, and fatigue,
even more than man can suffer, except it be unto death;
for behold, blood cometh from every pore,
so great shall be his anguish
for the wickedness and the abominations of his people.

And he shall be called Jesus Christ, the Son of God,
the Father of heaven and earth,
the Creator of all things from the beginning;
and his mother shall be called Mary.

And lo, he cometh unto his own,
that salvation might come unto the children of men
even through faith on his name;
and even after all this they shall consider him a man,
and say that he hath a devil,
and shall scourge him, and shall crucify him.

And he shall rise the third day from the dead;
and behold, he standeth to judge the world;
and behold, all these things are done
that a righteous judgment might
come upon the children of men.

For behold, and also his blood atoneth for the sins
of those who have fallen by the transgression of Adam,
who have died not knowing the will of God concerning them,
or who have ignorantly sinned.

The Redemption Of Christ

And my prayer to God
is concerning my brethren,
that they may once again
come to the knowledge of God,
yea, the redemption of Christ.

These Records Testify Of Christ

And it is many hundred years
after the coming of Christ
that I deliver these records
into the hands of my son;
and it supposeth me that he will
write somewhat concerning Christ.

And the things which are
upon these plates pleasing me,
because of the prophecies
of the coming of Christ.
